Welcome to CAST TX
The Texas Chapter of Chinese Association for Science and Technology (CAST-TX), founded in 1999 in Dallas, Texas, as a non-for-profit organization. CAST-TX is a local chapter of the CAST-USA which is founded in 1992 at New York. CAST-USA has 12 local chapters with over 8000 members. The mission of CAST-TX is to foster academic exchange and professional development; to support STEM education for young generations; and to romote outstanding traditions of the Chinese community.

Dr. Kelvin Xu

Mr. Xu is a partner of LigthPath Services Corp, a startup of next generation of hi-tech. Mr . Xu graduated from McGill University and University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He was a VP of Asia-Pacifc in AuBay Services Corp. to manage hi-tech projects and raise a PE funding for these projects. Before that, he was a principal software engineer in SkyFiber Corp. He has many years of professional experiences in S&P 500 companies (Bell Canada, Nortel, Alcatel, Fujitsu) as well as startups. His expertises includes: OS, Network protocols, Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), wireless sensor, multi-media, tablet computer, DSP, SONET and DWDM. Mr. Xu holds multiple US patents in wireless, IoT, and optics communication.

Ms. Sun is an analyst in the Global Wealth Management and Operational Technology team at Bank of America. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in International Business from Rouen Business School in France and master’s degree in Finance and Information Science (Information Technology Management) from the University of Texas at Dallas. Ms. Sun interned at international companies, such as Haynes and Boone, LLP, HSBC, and Saint-Gobain group and speaks English, French, and Mandarin. As a volunteer and an organizer, Ms. Sun always commits herself to commonweal organizations, such as Another Beautiful World in China and Junior Achievement in the states which focus on improving education and development for young generation.

Dr. Dong Qian is a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas. He received his B.S. degree in Bridge Engineering from Tongji University in China in 1994, his M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri in 1998 and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University in 2002. Shortly after his graduation, He was hired as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering in the University of Cincinnati and promoted to the rank of associate professor with tenure in 2008. In the Fall of 2012, he joined the newly established Mechanical Engineering Department as a tenured associate professor at the University of Texas at Dallas and was promoted to Full Professor in 2015. Dr. Qian has conducted research in the general areas of computational mechanics of materials. His research has been funded by NSF, AFOSR, AFRL, State of Ohio and industries such as P&G and General Electric. He is currently the assistant editor for the Journal of Computational Mechanics and serves on editorial board for two other journals on computational mechanics. He is the past Chair of the Elasticity Committee under ASME Applied Mechanics Division and current serves as the vice-Chair for the Committee on Computing in Applied Mechanics (CONCAM) in the same division.

Founded several startup companies since 2013, including an IT security consulting firm: SDC International LLC, and an innovative technology company: Quanlanck Technology, INC. Also, Sam served in technology and telecom companies in Dallas area for more than 20 years. In previous positions, he served as Director of IT Services for T-Mobile, Director of back office products for Goodman Networks and MetroPCS, and Associate Director of billing operations for AT&T. He holds an MBA from Texas A&M International University and a Bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University.

Jack Sun has more than 20 years of experience in Engineering Consulting, Industrial Manufacturing and Automated Production industries.
Jack has rich experience in both China, Canada and USA as successful professional manager, he served as executive manager in Fortune 500 Company and Sino-Foreign Joint Venture.
Jack earned his EMBA from USTC and Bachelor of Engineering from HUT. He is also a senior engineer, and has extensive technical knowledge and experience in Industrial field.

May 17, 2015 - CAST-USA delegation of 17 people is led by Prof. Walter Hu (President of CAST-TX) and Dr. Chris Guo (President of CAST-NC) to attend 13th CIEP conference. The team has visited several tech parks in Shenzhen.
